My authentic G-1 bomber jacket ok to wear in public? Good for first impression? Fashionable at...

I was unsure how to title this thread, so please hear me out...

I'm headed to England to see a girl this Wednesday. I haven't seen her in a VERY long time, and she's very special to me. Although we've met before, I feel like this is "another first impression". I want to make sure I look perfect for her.

I'm an aviator in the Navy...and I was issued the G-1 brown leather bomber jacket. Unfortunately, I've NEVER been able to wear it because I'm always in warm climates lol. I know England is going to be bitterly cold, so I figured I could wear the jacket on the plane, and that would be the first thing she sees me in. The jacket, a plane fitted white t-shirt, and a pair of jeans with brown boots. It's definitely a very sharp jacket, but I'm afraid this could go terribly wrong. I don't want to be that guy getting pointed at and people saying, "WTF is he wearing that old-school bomber jacket for?"

Is it a bad idea to wear it? Are bomber jackets fashionable/stylish, or will I look like some kid posing as his favorite character from Top Gun? Does the outfit sound stupid?

My G-1 is the dark brown leather, with dark brown fur collar.

We really need pictures to judge.

But based on your description, if you are young (under 30), and if things does fit trim and well, I don't see why this outfit could be bad

I certainly think the vintage/military vibe could be popular in some parts of UK e.g. Central London, Brighton

Where is your female friend located?

I am doubtful to your 'brown shoe' because I have a feeling that it might be a square toe glue shoe

Give us more information about yourself (height, ethic, age, personal style) and a picture, so that we could help out

Thanks for the replies so far, guys!

I'll take a picture and post it soon...I just woke up and need to clean up a bit lol.

My female friend is located in Birmingham, UK. I'm flying directly into Birmingham airport.

The brown shoes are a very military-styled brown/black marbled boot. I'm 5'10'', 28 years old, white (olive/brown skin tone), and my personal style is a bit tough to state. I'm a mix of professional/rocker/hipster if you ask me. Hard to describe lol.

Also, instead of the brown combat boots, I was considering just wearing my pair of black Chuck Taylor All-stars.

A good leather jacket, paired with boots, hard to make that fail. Pictures sure would help.

Based on your description, I will favour the all star than the brown boots, for the pure causal look which is desirable for the requisite occasions.

Concern more of thy words, be very careful of what you say to her, that seems more important

The thing is you wouldn't be "some kid posing as his favorite character from Top Gun".
It's your USN issue bomber. It's the real deal. If I was a Navy pilot, I'd wear my bomber whenever I could! I say wear it.

She has agreed to meet you and so wear what you like. If she has a problem with it then meet someone else when you are in England.
Welcome to Styleforum.
