Shell Aldens

I purchased a pair of black shell saddle shoes from this company 6 months ago. I like them so much I am thinking of buying this set, however, they look a little "chunky" for my tastes.

I can't justify more than 600 dollars for a new pair of shoes and all of the AE shell cordovan models I own in calfskin. I would like to get something different and am open to any advice.

This my friend, is the infamous AF26 from Alden of Carmel.
You are not going to see this anywhere else, they are exclusive to this retailer.
I bought a pair recently. Granted that they are a bit expensive, but they are well worth the money IMHO. The welt (i.e. the edges of the sole) sticks out a bit and they came with the commando sole, you can wear them with cords, jeans and flannel dress pants. I will even try to wear them with a suit.

If you want slimmer split-toe and cordovan check out the carmina's at skyvalet (which at least was giving 15% discount to SF members).

The alden of carmel shoe is extremely nice, but definitely different than the carmina

Does anyone have experience with the Alden Chukka boots?

I take it you got them from AoC.

They're not irregular as that's a common "feature" of many brands of boots.
It's a simple fix to tack it down to prevent the slipping.
Not sure why Alden and Tricker's don't do it that way at the factory though.
Other brands do.
