How to wear red pants without looking like Ronald McDonald?

Hi!  I'm new to SF.  Well, new account-wise.  I've been lurking forums for 3-4 months.  Let me tell you something about me before I post the actual pants I was looking at:  I'm fourteen.  I'm a HS freshman, but I like dressing well.  Not nearly as well as most of SFers, but again, I'm a high school freshman.  My classmates accept that I like dressing well and I get a lot of compliments on my style, so please don't comment saying 'Go get some band tee shirts and be a kid!'.
I've always liked the look of red pants, but I could never find any in my price range.  That is, until I found these:

I'm probably going to get them, but I was wondering how to wear them well.
I assume plain converse are out.  I was thinking black leather JPs, a white V-neck and a blue blazer.
Thoughts?

Go with brown shoes.

Good for you man, no need to look like a typcial HS Freshman. I think the guy in the pic is a good palce to start, and like the poster above me said, Brown Shoes.

Done.

Not advised unless you have the swag to pull it off. Red-white-blue you are going to look like an american flag. Primary on primary colors is to be used sparingly IMHO.

Don't think the dockers are a good choice. You need something slimmer. With red pants, you want to keep the rest pretty simple. Brown or black shoes. White could work too, but I don't mean sneakers, and I doubt you have white leather derbies. Blue blazer is obviously good with red pants. But I also doubt you want to wear a blazer to high school. Simple t-shirts, button-ups, cardigans. I think you'll get it pretty quickly, if you have any sense of style.

Aw, I have no brown shoes.  I'll look into getting some, as I suspect I'll be needing a pair eventually.
I read a few other posts on red pants and everyone was like "OMG BLUE WHITE RED OMG"  and at first I was like puzzled.gif because I thought it'd look like a flag, but they looked really good.  Thanks for the advice on the cardigan, Jabonator, I didn't think to wear a sweater.

At first I was looking for red jeans, but the only place that had a pair that would fit me was Hot Topic, and it gave the model some....unflattering lines, and I ended up liking these a lot.

I prefer a lighter shade of red, but the Dockers Alpha fit is a pretty popular cut around here.

Something about that shade of red is just....off-putting to me.
Looking through lookbook for inspiration.  Every red pant is from H&M, which doesn't carry clothes for people who aren't stick thin (actually, that's not true.  I'm just really big.  I'm tall, so it balances out okay enough.  All my brothers and my dad were fat as teens and hit growth spurts and are now super thin, so I'm pretty sure I'll thin out.  I really like the pair I have, I was just wondering how to wear them without looking weird, which you guys have pretty much helped me reach).

Here's an example of my use of red pants, a bit dressier.

Other than that I've worn them with my chunky grey/brown toggle cardigan, some simple, good tees, and some plaid shirts.

Jabonator,  I actually really like that.  'Specially with the fedora.  Fedoras are cool.

Red pants are much less conspicuous if it is bright and sunny outside.

To look like Ronald McDonald, wear an equally loud yellow shirt.

White shirt, red pants, brown loafers ... looks great in the summer, no one will bat an eye at you at the beach, shopping, etc.

For the winter maybe a much darker red or a dark purple (plum). Then I'd wear a blue shirt, maybe with a pattern, a navy sweater, and brown boots.

The trick is to balance everything and not let the red "pop"
