Winter Boots

I live in Michigan and the snow will be here soon. I really want a boot that is high enough to cover the bottom of my dress pants. I have a gift certificate to Mr Porter and was thinking about grabbing some Hunter boots. I've read around and found varying opinions of if they are snow suitable. Suggestions...advice on the matter?

Live in NYC so our winters are nothing compared to yours but I wear my Hunter Boots (I they are the shorter ones with pull tabs) while commuting. They are not the fanciest thing around but they get me to work dry and the salt damage is not a concern. I just bring an extra pair of shoes (or have some in my office).

Might want thicker socks though because your feet will get cold if you wear Hunters. Go with function and whatever works in extreme situations.

Okay, I was just wondering how they did in the snow. Not really going for style points. For casual wear or shoveling snow, I'll break out the Timberlands. But for walks across a salty, slushy, dirty parking lot-I just wanted to see how Hunter performed. I would just change my shoes when I got to the office. Michigan winters aren't too kind to dress shoes. Usually I just put up my good stuff for the season and wear some kick around dress shoes in its place. Thanks.
