do you guys use manual focus ever or is it always autofocus?
Yes I use it a lot because I own some manual focus lenses. Also when doing things where I'm really close.
Mostly autofocus, but it depends on what I'm doing. Video is always manual, and if the camera's locked down on a tripod, then manual focus with the highest magnification on live view.

We have a wildfire going on here, and it's too bad that it produces really beautiful light. These were both autofocus, but at a small aperture (f/8) and focusing near infinity, it doesn't matter too much.

Lately I have a bit a down point for my creativity, I just don't find stuff to photograph around here. I'm currently not traveling, it's too rainy for insect macros, so on.

So I got me a fluid head and tried to shoot some stuff with my 5DIII.

Watch in 1080p to make it smoooooth

Those stairs are great! Did you try a crop which doesn't show the sky? Makes it really abstract.
Yeah that would be co too. I need to try that, but there was a bad storm rolling in. I was trying to capture it

Nice. What did you use to edit? Are you going to try the Magic Lantern RAW hack when that gets more usable? The preliminary results are amazing.

I really like the midtones and the contrast at the upper and lower ends of the tonal range, especially in the overall shot of the church. Was this a preset or did you do custom PP?
Thank AY I start with a vsco preset and then add more contrast mess with shadows and vignette in LR the. I take it in PS sharpen (never figured out sharpening in LR) then mask a layer tht I want to be darker like the sky in the church photo and mess with curves there .
