Back from a business trip to Singapore and Malaysia. Managed to make a small trip to Lake Gardens, close to Kuala Lumpur. The butterfly park is just lovely, what a pity I didn't bring my macro lens... again.

Szeph nice photos as usual I particularly like the monkey and the cricket photos. I disagree with irate as the shallow DoF adds more interest and let's your eye know where to go, where as the second one m eye doesn't know where to start or end as there isnt a point of interest.

But perhaps less so if the in focus subject matter is some randomly chosen part of a greater subject which the eyes are drawn to but then can't focus on as with my moss pic.

I really like the first one crane, cdfs good point but at least it makes the overall image more interesting than the whole picture in focus "look this is moss" the end. With that in shallow focus at least for me I can appreciate the textures and look at it more than a second or two. But I do agree having a subject matter would definitely jazz it up.

Thanks IC. Here's one of them reworked to look like something in your grandmother's old photo album.

Cool stuff trini.

That's funny; recently we were going through my grandfather's stuff to clear out my grandparents house (up for sale frown.gif ) and he had boxes on boxes of awesome slides he shot--like a whole box from Watkins Glen.

Trini, I don't do much processing, so forgive the noob question. How do you get the B&W vibe with the selected areas of color?

Some great shots Trini, though I have to say I'm not a fan of the b/w + one colour.
