Subway and Public Transportation Etiquette - The People We Encounter - Page 83

i forget if I posted this here or not, but it's worth a repost. Basically you can take a dog onto the subway system if they're small and can fit into a bag. We do this and have never had a problem. The other exception is for service dogs.

some service dogs are bigger than others:

That is the largest lab in history. I'm OK with that just because it's so damn huge.

People on the Barcelona metro aren't so rushed... it's not like they have jobs to get to. biggrin.gif

Srsly - Barcelona's metro is nice - but a girl who was traveling with us almost got robbed. She was sitting with a big purse in her lap that was open-topped. A few seconds before the train pulled of the metro station - a guy bolted through the traincar and tried to scoop her wallet out of her purse and make it out the door just before it closed so no one could go after him. He made it out the door and the trained pulled off before anyone could react, but he didn't manage to grab anything because he scooped his hand in mid-stride.

The advice our guide gave us is if you are carrying anything like a messenger bag is always position it in front of you, not behind, and if there is a flap (which is ideal) wear it with the flap facing INWARDS to make it hard for the pickpockets.

Also - if you are at a metro paystation in downtown Barcelona and you find the credit card reader doesn't work because a coin is permanently jammed in it - sorry - it was a really long night. shog[1].gif

Standing on the subway platform (the G of all platforms) and there is this very dirty, possibly homeless black man standing right on the edge hanging his head over the edge and wobbling. He starts puking up all of this yellow stuff. It seriously looked like egg yolks. I seriously thought this guy was going to tumble onto the tracks. Then he would blow his nose into a napkin and then wobble again and start puking. This was going on for like five minutes and I was getting really nervous he was either going to fall or the train was going to come and smack into his head while he was puking. He ended up sitting down on the floor next to the tracks. It made me feel better that I did have to grab this guy off the tracks.

i'll be honest, I wouldn't bother going in for the save if he ended up on the tracks. It's way deep down there, and I'm a huge fan of keeping my limbs.

I had to run an errand, so this afternoon I was rockin the subway. On the train, this mother and her young daughter were hanging out, chatting, just being fun. I couldn't stop staring at the rapport they had together.

if I think "tig ol bitties" of somebody sitting down on a train, and the doors haven't even opened up for me to enter the train, then that's just too much hardware for me to deal with.

Gome, you creep!
incorrect. It is not considered creeping if the objects in discussion could also serve as air traffic control signals.
