I recently acquired a pair of NOS Florsheim wingtips, not sure of the age, probably 80s to early 90s: Made in USA, brown leather soles with "The Florsheim Shoe" stamped on the sole and molded into the rubber heel. What kind of care should these get to make sure the leather doesn't crack from being dried out or something? I typically just use Kiwi polish but wonder if shoes of this age could use some kind of leather conditioner.

Care for NOS Shoes?

Welcome to Styleforum.
BEFORE you begin....smell inside the shoes and check they are not musty inside. If musty do not lotion.
Apply leather lotion conditioner with your hands to both the outside and the leather interior and footbed as well.
Feel inside the shoe. Feel for cloth or leather inside the toebox. If leather, lotion it. If cloth, leave alone.
Let dry. Repeat this a few times using your hand. Work the lotion into the leather. The lotion and heat from your hand will or should soften the leather up, making it more pliable. When dry, wipe with a cotton cloth. Brush then buff.

Thanks for the helpful advice. I don't notice any musty odor, they don't smell much different from my pair of AEs. Any suggestions as to what brand of leather lotion to use? Thanks for the tip about the cloth, there is some toward the front of the shoe, only about the back 1/3 is leather lined. I definitely don't think these are top line Florsheims, but they do appear to be welted and are probably a heck of a lot better than most modern Florsheim shoes.
