How to remove a shoe dent?

I could use some help with a pair of shoes I recently bought. Something was dropped on one of my AE oxfords recently, right on the toe, and now there is a dent in the toe that I can't remove.

I've tried pushing up the dent by putting newspaper on my shoe tree, and generally making it as tight in that area as possible, but nothing's working. Nothing that I put in the toe of the shoe is strong enough to push up the dent.

I've tried pushing it up with my hand/finger, but that's not helping either. Any advice? Anyone else dealt with something like this before?

Also, there are many euphemism-sounding phrases in this post. You're welcome for that.

It happened to me once. I used a spoon to push up the dent from inside. I can't imagine any dent which won't give out with a bit of a push.
Beware though - it still left a slight crease which I've never been able to remove.

Did you leave the spoon in somehow, or was pushing it up sufficient to keep it up? Thanks for the help, by the way.

Shoes that have a leather toe stiffener are generally harder and not so prone to this problem. But in any case, the shoe with a leather toe stiffener could theoretically be wet and the leather pushed up from the inside and left to dry in the new/original position. Or the last put back in to insure the exact same shape.

But shoes with a celastic toe stiffener may have to be "recrafted" to get back to the original look. The celastic is a resin impregnated cloth that needs a solvent to shape it in the first place and once dented it is near-as-nevermind like plastic (which in a sense, it is) that has been broken. You might push the edges together but the damage is done.
