I agree with you that the price to quality ratio is good even with the upcharge.

Um, are you sure there's an SF promo that applies to the AS Exclusive shoes (from afinepair)?

Yes when I got a price from AFPS, it included the 10% SF discount

This feels like a total no-brainer. C&J. Gorgeous colour, classic last. I want it.

No-brainer? I don't see major differences in lasts. This C&J is benchgrade while the AS is in the handgrade level. Note that OP can choose his own color too, so it's not the comparison point.

Didn't know about the colour. CJ is round, AS is chisel toed. It also looks like maybe CJ has a double sole, which Ive recently been into.

Cottesmore has a double sole

I'd go C & J, nicer shape in the lower ankle

They have a jodhpur boot on the page I pointed to. It seems to be a basic template in which many of the features are adjustable. So, for example, if you don't like the toe shape pictured, you can select something else. Since they're relatively cheap, it might be a fun experiment.

BTW, One of the problems I have with C&J is that virtually all their boots come in one width -- damn wide. They make very nice stuff but fit is not their strong point.
