Men's Skin Hygiene

I was reading through different blogs on men's skin grooming and I have a question as to when each type of grooming should be done:

My typical morning consists of a shower, and in the shower I wash my face with an all-natural Neutrenga pore cleanse, then I shave, I use a skin-clearing Neutregena shaving cream, shave with a straight razor. Then after my shower I use a toner, then moisturize.

I do not use a aftershave, should I? Am I doing these things in a good order? I still have breakouts and general spots that occur throughout the month, with some weeklong periods being worse than others (hormones I suppose).

Should I add/take away products? I'd say I have moderately oily skin. Does seem to be fairly sensitive, so I try to use the bare minimum in products, may or may not be a good thing.

Just looking for any advice on what exactly to do, and hopefully this helps someone else out there.

Thanks!

Most men do not even do all those steps you do to keep their skin clean and nourished so I would say that you are off to the right start.

Aftershaves are drying to your skin so I would not use one unless you want the cologne smell effect. For "better" skin care and shaving products, I'd highly recommend the TwinLuxe skin and shave care range. I'm a diehard TwinLuxe user now (converted from Kiehls and Art of Shaving). Think you would love their super slick and hydrating shave cream since you are man enough to shave with a straight.

Which of their products do you use, or all of them?

On a side note, looks like it's going to be a hefty investment...haha, too bad everything good/nice seems to be so expensive.

I have 5 of their Twinluxe products (shave cream, balm moisturizer, spray mist toner, serum, and face wash scrub) and are big fans of each of them. The balm moisturizer is expensive at $64 but you only use a "pea-sized" amount for each use as stated on their website. SO the balm bottle looks like it will last me 6 months to 9 months total (I use it everyday). Not bad considering how long it lasts.

I shower in the evening.  I use natural fragrance free glycerin bar soap (clearly natural) or kiss my face pure olive oil soap and apply it in the shower with a shaving brush.  I moisturize post shower/wash with johnson's fragrance free hypoallergenic baby lotion.  In the morning I use witch hazel by dickinson's on a cotton round if I look like I need a freshening up.
