The consensus seems to be mink oil is not too good for the type of leather you find on the DB. Leaves a sticky residue that many find hard to get off. Personally I prefer and recommend Obenauf's leather oil (for moisturizing) and LP (for water protection). Looks like you can get them for under $10 bucks each on ebay.

Saw those at a local Journeys last week. Looks sick.

To be fair Obenauf's also leaves a sticky residue but it's supposed to. It's basically waterproofing the leather with a sticky layer of wax. After a week or two of wear the stickiness does wear off.

Honestly Obenauf's is kind of overkill for 80% of the people in this thread. It is designed for people who are constantly getting their shoes wet and messed up. I doubt many people here get their clarks wrecked beyond a few rain puddles and grass.

Personally I do use it because I also do some light hiking in mine and they do get wet a lot. But for most applications I would recommend something like Otter Wax instead. It's the same general product as OBNF but a bit milder. It's much less darkening on the leather too.

Yeah, sole is pretty brutal but they don't look that bad imo.

those beeswax look pretty good darkened !!

 

I want to get a pair of those originals, I have the bushacre ones and I'm not really a fan of the type of leather used. It's too suede like.
