Does anyone know how the J.Crew Macalister Boots fit compared to the Clarks Desert Boots?

I have a pair of clarks in brown but i am really digging the dark khaki by J.Crew..... I really wish Clarks made more shades of brown.

grey goes with everything. really can't think of a colour that would clash.

Also which type of grey would these ones have started off as? I think I have seen a few types of greys, whats the color model of these ones actually called? Ive seen a 'Distressed grey' that is of similar color, are they the ones?

Those look exactly like the ones I bought 2 years ago. The box says "Distressed Grey."

I wear mine to work all the time, but my office runs on the casual side of business casual. I can wear jeans but mostly wear chinos so my dark brown desert boots work great. Just take your cues from what the rest of the people you work with are wearing. Desert boots look nicer than the cheap rubber-soled lace-ups and loafers the guys in my office wear.

It's all Nikes here. So my desert boots actually look dressed up. Then again, yesterday I wore my blue Converse JPs.

Everyone says DB is comfy, but my feet hurt like hell after a couple of hours of walking, specifically in the metatarsal and heel areas. I'm thinking this is probably due to the lack of arch support. What type of insert/orthotic would work best to address metatarsal+heel pain?

I use a Orthaheel in mine and but I need the arch support normally. I have orthotics inserts for my dress shoes. For shoes with soft insoles, the combination of a firm orthotic in the back of the shoe with the soft insole in the front is weird so I use Orthaheels. With it, my DBs are some of the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. I walked 6 miles one day while on vacation not too long ago in them with no problems.
