May look better with fitted jeans though since they are so slim. I sized down 1/2 and I have a wide foot but they still fit fine.

Got BR Sahara's in too. not really a big fan of the beeswax either, i dont think the color goes very well with dark jeans.

for reference: sized down 1/2. they fit OK out of the box, like my chucks, which i don't find very comfy. i think that i have wider feet so my true size would probably have been a better fit, but these fit alright. i get the feeling that they will break in quickly, which will help with the fit

i also picked up the BR sahara boots, in 10 and 10 1/2. i don't think they are narrow - more like a D width. the clarks seem to me to be an E width. i also don't think the BR sahara boots run large compared to most aldens or AE. i am a 10E in most AE, and the 10 sahara boot, though tight in the width out of the box, fits a bit better than the 10 1/2, which seems too long. the BR last/shape is def. more sleek than the clark's desert boot last. it may have a lower shape; at least it laces up more snug around the ankles of my flat feet.

the 10 sahara boot also loosened up quite a bit on the first wearing. it does seem like they will stretch out. just in case they don't, i am going to hold onto the 10 1/2. for $40 it's not worth returning them.

here's my question: how do you care for beeswax suede? should i re-apply beeswax periodically or let it wear away? can anyone recommend an appropriate product, if one is needed?

I use silicon spray on almost all my leather shoes, at least while they're new. Later on, if they're still wearable in a few years, I'll recondition them with a wax or other leather product like Doc Marten's dubbin.

+1 id like to know what others are doing to take care of these. can you just use regular leather care products that you would use for any other shoe?

Got my BR beeswax boots, wearing them now. They are hard to put on at first, no question. A shoehorn really helps. I think the 8 1/2s are going to work for me okay. A 9 likely would have been a little loose. I have a narrow foot, though, so those with wider feet might need to be careful about sizing down. The leather's a bit stiff out of the box, but it seems like they'll open up nicely. It's crazy how the beeswax leather distresses just from putting them on and wearing. They might not go that well with dark jeans, but they go great with khakis!

Got my Sahara boots a couple hours ago, they fit fine, the greys are nice and slim, can't wait to break them in. Btw I went with 9.5 which is what I wear in chucks.

Where did you find grey Saharas on BRs site? I can't find them anywhere, and would buy another pair in a second since I can't find anyplace that has grey Clark's in stock.

Or do you mean the sand colored ones?

They are there, but hidden. Either try the search on the BR site or look back in this thread for a link.

By the way- a report of two days of wearing the BR Sahara- 8 miles of walking. For my foot, the heel is narrow- that is why I stayed at 10.5. Now I think along the lines of Dewey that these are a bit long and that if I was sure the boot was going to stretch out with wear I might have been better off with 10. YMMV. Not even in the same league in comfort as a Paul Smith chen is.

Got my 8.5s in the BR beeswax Sahara today...not sure, I think the 9 would be more comfortable...but they were out of that size. I'm debating calling around to see if any of the stores have them hidden away for an exchange.

Can anyone speak to how these stretch out, seeing as they are pretty unstructured...

^ On day four of 4-6 miles/day walking I begin to see comfort on the horizon. Maybe 2 more days and I'll think of them as comfortable. The first two days they just flat out were uncomfortable.

My problem with the 8.5 is that I constantly want to slam my heel into the floor to position the ball of my foot back farther...usually means I'm running a bit too small for the footbed. This prob won't stretch right? When you are talking stretch you mean in terms of tightness on the top of the foot?
