You might also get it off with the brush and eraser for suede.

Thanks, maybe I'll try the brush and eraser. I know that I am being overly fastidious and really should just "let go" and enjoy the boots as they age. I'll work on it.

I just bought these tonight. This is my first pair of desert boots, but I actually prefer this color to the traditional suede.

The salesperson told me they will be getting four different colors for the fall.

How goofy would it look if I took a knife to the heel and trimmed it down a bit? I like the silhouette of the boot but the heel is excessive for someone who is tall.

Same here, I picked up mine today. This colour is more wearable for me and my wardrobe. And $59.90 will be hard to beat.

Very. Don't do it, man; it will mess up the balance and stance of the boot. There are plenty of desert boots on the market; just choose one that has a lower heel in the first place. For example, the American Eagle suede chukka. (I know, AE... groan... it was just an example.)

Would it look weird to wear dark jeans and a dark shirt with sand coloured boots?

I might get the dark brown boots for their neutrality, but I like the sand colour better. I can only afford one right now.

How tall are you? I am 188 cmtall, but don't find the heel to be too high.......esp if you compare it to boots from Alden, Red Wing and Dr Martens. Also the heel of DB wear out rather quickly, so you may want to take that into consideration when you make the "trim".

I'm about 6'2" so just a little bit taller than you but I have long legs and a fairly short torso so it kinda throws things off. I didn't mean trimming down the hell to make it flat, just a few millimeters or so. The chunkiness of the Clarks DB is something that doesn't really come with other versions. For example, J. Crew's take has a very slim profile even if the heel is lower, which doesn't suit me.

^^ It will make no difference to your perceived height or leg length. You're too concerned. Believe me - nobody could possibly notice just because of the heel on a desert boot.

I'm 6'8" and I have shoes with far, far bigger heels on them (I have enourmous feet, so the heels are proportionate to the size of the shoe). It doesn't bother me. I'm big - I got over that ages ago. And yes, my legs are much longer than my torso.

6'2" is hardly a problem height anyway. Just buy them and wear them.
