Custom leather patch/back pocket designs

Just got a pair of unbranded denim, and as you all know there is a blank patch and pockets. I want to put my own designs on both of these things, but I'm not really too sure how to make it happen. I was wondering if anyone on here has any experience with this or ideas on what to do.

Silk screen and heat branding?

Yeah I was thinking something like that, I don't personally have a silkscreen set up but I might be able to use my friends. I do have an old woodburning thing that I might be able to use.
