Ran out of wardrobe space - Suggest how to optimize ... / Help me cull my stuff

Hi

This is what my wardrobe looks like. Problem is currently I have 40% more stuff in storage which I need to put inside this space. All this stuff is what is left after giving away a lot of clothes.

As I see it, there are 2 solutions

a - Trim down the number of clothes I have further
b - Try to optimize whatever space I have

I want to give option b a shot, before moving on to option a.

Please suggest ways in which more stuff can be fit inside this space.

Not mine, basically household stuff. We have 5 built in cupboards. Wife has full 2, 1 is for household stuff, with some exceptions. The area below the ties is one of the exceptions.

Not many options as I see it. Have you got enough height to make a double layered hanging space?

I thought of that as well. Currently my room is like this

Thought of changing it into this. But this is madness. I am sure I will accumulate enough junk to fill this as well

The cupboard is full height, so around 10'. What is show in the pic is from around 50%. Below this, I have 2 big drawers in which I store shoes. I have a 12" unit above this which is for temp storage. On top of this is a large unit which goes to the ceiling, where I put suitcases and long term storage stuff.

I will take more measurements and explore option of double layered storage space

One (probably unsatisfactory) approach would be to fold rather than hang shirts you're not intending to wear immedaitely so realising more space in the R/H storage space and then put in more shelving (although I'd not want to do this personally). Just hang the ones for the next couple of days

Is there any storage space under the bed/divan you could utilise for shoes, non-seasonal items and the like?

There are only 14 shirts plus I guess 2-3 must have gone for laundry. I dont think that's a lot. 5 suits and 5 SCs.

The problem is that all these 25 articles need at least 42" height cupboard to be hanged.

You could fold up and stack your shirts instead of hanging them, move the jackets etc in the right closet all the way to the left of the closet and put the stack of shirts on top of the 'ties' cupboard.

The top of tie drawer is already is 4' from the ground.

What is shown in the pic is from 22" to 60" from the ground

My set-up is similar to yours. I rotate items in and out of storage, every other week or so, more or less seasonally ... summer/fall stuff going out, fall/winter stuff coming in.
