Heh I started with a heavy armor tank to do the imperial legion/ companions haha. Next will be my thief. I wish that shields would actually deflect arrows though.

That's what I read. I used the bucket trick to pick pocket a safe key from some Elf on the first theives guild mission and it worked. That was maybe 3 or 4 days after release.

This is my favorite Elder Scrolls game so far, and I never had much hope for anything being better than Morrowind. That game was amazing. I think of the game when I'm at work and cant wait to play again. The last time this happened was a little over a year ago when I first got MineCraft.

I thought the scaling was completely eliminated in this game?

I'm playing on the PC and it is really buggy, plenty of freezes and crashes, hope the next patch will let me play above low settings.
I've played all the Elder Scrolls since Daggerfall, and there seems less of a leap from Oblivion to Skyrim than between the others, Daggerfall to Morrowind was a huge change. Skyrim feels more like an expansion to Oblivion than a whole new game and engine (maybe as I'm playing on low). I've only played 10 hours so far and haven't come across anything really inventive or unusual yet, hope to have a good session today though.

1. I believe it reuses the Oblivion engine, so that's why it is a visual continuity.
2. BethSoft is known for releasing buggy-ass games and blatant console-ripoffs.
3. I played and was not impressed. I've never gotten into TES series. I'll stick to my D&D-style RPGs instead.

Try this: http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/11/11/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-tweaks-improve-graphics-disable-vsync-change-fov-and-more/

I followed the disabling mouse smoothing and Vsync advice and it's done a lot to improve performance.

Skyrim was made on a new engine. I dont think it looks anything like Oblivion. Oblivion turned me off because everything was too colorful and clean. Everything in Skyrim is very bleak and dirty.

My game is running fine. I have read that some people are having problems with their quicksaves corrupting on PC. I'm going to start using a standard save at the end of every play session now.

A new patch is going to be out for PC "soon after thanksgiving."

there's been a few highly obnoxious bugs on PC for me (esbern, anyone?) but extracting some of the data files found in the game folder has solved that. the console commands are really helpful; adjusting FOV makes a big difference. i have a middle of the road 3.0ghz system with 4g of ram and a gts250 video card and it runs smooth as butter with most settings jacked up - the game wont even use more than 2g of ram in the first place, either.

they did a great job on the engine - very smooth and it scales fantastically. seeing the shadow of a dragon interrupt the northern lights illuminating a castle and a mountain range is pretty impressive

the thieves guild side jobs are getting really repetitive and tedious

It is only natural that Daggerfall to Morrowind would have the biggest leap in terms of graphics. Daggerfall was built in an old era, and most games that were part of a series in that 2D era that jumped into 3D were all huge improvements in looks.

If you find a book called 'Lost Legends' read it, it brings one of the best and more creative quests along. Some fun and tough battles.

So far I have yet to encounter any big bug, I've installed a few mods as well - new FXAA injector and shaders, better textures etc..game is looking fantastic and running well.

Only complaint - I can't find Lydia, I parted ways with her at a tavern so i could hire a disposable follower/mercenary. When I came back she wasn't in Breezehome or Dragonsreach. So I reloaded the save file from when I parted ways and I started following her and she was walking out of Whiterun instead of towards my home or Dragonsreach.

Anyway that is not too big of a deal anyway.
