Fabric for a tweed 3 pc suit

Gents,
I'm strongly considering getting a 3 pc tweed suit - which would see occasional service as an entire ensemble, but more often would be used as separates. What fabric might you recommend towards such a purpose? Particularly out of the Harris Tweeds here:

At the moment I'm kind of digging 8162 and 8172...

Thanks in advance

Also, what's the best way to have the pants configured? I'd imagine no belt loops if it is ever to be worn as a 3 piece? Or can you have the loops that would then be covered by the waistcoat in the event that they are worn together? Is this ok to do since pants for belts and paints for suspenders are cut differently? suspender buttons and side adjusters? Or is this a terrible idea to begin with?

I prefer browns or at least some hint of brown for tweed but those are nice too.

Both belt loops and suspender buttons are okay as long as you don't intend to use both at the same time. But suspenders would be more fitting for a tweed suit, in my opinion.

Yes, clearly not for use at the same time...but there must be at least suspender buttons on any 3-pc suit, right? Otherwise how are you supposed to wear the waistcoat without a belt...unless you get ONLY side adjusters...

If the fit of the pants is good and you have the right body shape, neither belt nor suspenders are needed. If you don't have suspender buttons you can theoretically use the clip-type suspenders, though I don't recommend it. Also, although not traditionally correct, you can still wear a belt with a waistcoat, if the belt is thin and the buckle small enough so that it is not noticeable, as the waistcoat should cover the belt completely anyways.

Not a fan of side adjusters myself, but if you like them that's fine too.

For some reason I tend to like donegals for a 3-piece - breaks up easily and if worn all together less visually jarring than herringbone. 8180 is a great color. Also think side-adjusters are the way to go here.
