Technical pants dimension question, inseam/seat measurement...

Hi,

I was wondering when comparing a 34-32 and a 34-30 sized pant, is the only thing different between the two pairs of pants the inseam? Or is the part above the inseam (the seat? the part from the crotch/top of the inseam to waist) a different size as well, ie proportionally longer on the 32 inseam? Just curious, between I'm kind of between a a 32 and 30 inseam, and wondering if there was a difference here and one might look better (taller/longer legs?) as a result...

There shouldn't be any difference in the rise of the pants. But this doesn't matter, because the right thing for you to do is buy the 32 inseam and take it to a tailor to shorten the legs to the proper length.

Ah yes, that's what it's called, the "rise" of the pants. Ok so the rise is the same regardless of the inseam...good to know...I would prefer to tailor down a 32 instead of settling for a 30 which is short, but it is also cheaper to just get a 30 without having to get them tailored...
