Gieves and Hawkes MTM

Just saw a new item on their website, MTM in 4 weeks! The link does not work though: http://discover.gievesandhawkes.com/discover-gieves-and-hawkes-tailoring/tailoring-services/made-to-measure

Anyone with more info, eg prices and quality?

No experience but their new shop leaves me with the impression you'd be rushed in and rushed out. Gieves is now owned by the Chinese...I think anybody with any sartorial reputation has probably long left that company now - it is a shadow of its former glory.

Isn't he after a suit?

As far as I know, it is the same as their previous MTM, you will get a decent suit; I do have a few Gieves RTW suits but nothing from the MTM offerings. For the money, £750/£800 starting price, you should look elsewhere; although worth considering, if on sale with little or no charge compared on RTW suits cost.

If you are looking to spend that much money on a suit, you should consider the likes of Cad & The Dandy, Graham Browne, etc, who can offer bespoke at about the same price.

Gieves & Hawkes have just been purchased by HK's Li & Fung - experts in supply chains, mass retail and with a growing collection of luxury brands.

meh. Li & Fung have been involved with G&H for some years now & the quintessentially English brand has been far east owned for some years.

Who owns most of the USA's debt?  What has happened to the USA recently? - Joking aside.

The old owners were from HK and the new ones are again HK based not the mainland - there is a difference.

I doubt Li & Fung are targeting the USA market for growth.
