Well, I’ve been eagerly waiting for an appropriate time to share my experience with my DaLuca belt, so here goes!

Lazy people skip to the end!

Original Belt:

A little over a half year ago, I started looking for a new natural belt; my Flat Head belt I got from Self Edge was super sturdy but it was on its deathbed and a bit too short (my fault for purchasing the wrong size). Anyways there were just a ridiculous number of options out there so I decided to go with a material I was familiar with. As a big wristwatch buff, I wanted to get a belt that matched one of my favorite Panerai straps – it would be made out of leather from a very small Swedish tannery, really supple stuff! That being said, I got in touch with Dan over at DaLuca Straps and I asked him to see if he could make me a belt with that same leather. Thankfully he said he could make one for me and within a few days I had myself a sweet handcrafted belt with a solid brass buckle.

I’ve been wearing the belt religiously for well over 6 months – almost always with my Skulls; they definitely picked up the indigo rather quickly on the backside. As you can see in the pictures, the leather is very ‘absorbent’ to different tones and substances it comes into contact with. To me, this was definitely a huge plus, I really loved seeing the leather age naturally. Occasionally, I’d leave the belt out to sit in the sun and you can almost always see a slight darkening afterwards.

As far as quality and service goes, it’s top notch. Dan’s well known for his good customer service, I’m sure if you ordered a belt and found problems he’d help you out at all costs (he’s certainly helped me with my Panerai straps).

Ok now, to be fair there is something that should be mentioned. Although I totally love this material – it stretches. While most leather does stretch, this one is definitely above and beyond anything else I’ve ever owned. I’m two notches under where I started and I definitely didn’t lose any weight. I’ve also noticed my watch strap loosening up – same deal here: I would just be wary as to what size you get, Dan threw some tips on how to size your belt so I’d go with that guide – don’t make the same mistake I did! Also, I just noticed his watch straps were on Epaulet as well… didn’t see that coming! (I hear Jack Spade is going to carry his stuff too)

Anyways, I’ll continue to update you guys on the belt through the threads with the aging of leather but I thought it’d be nice to share my experience with this particular belt with you all.

Bottom line: I think this is a really good belt at this price point - I prefer the material over my Flat Head belt, but the stretch is the biggest downside, however if you make sure to buy the right size it will honestly be one of the finest belts you own :) I'll keep you guys updated as it gets even older and abused :slayer:

The exact belt I got is actually online here, but he has some other models now. Thanks for reading!
