How does my suit fit?

Hey guys, long time reader... just registered.

I'm getting married in a few months, and I'm in the market for a black suit.  I'm 5'11, 225 lbs, with broad shoulders, and ive had a hard time finding good suits that fit. I went to a suit place, and they measured me and said Im a 44R, I tried on a few 44 R's and the shoulders seem to fit, but the suit is pretty baggy around the chest and stomach.

I'm considering getting a MTM suit, but wanted to see what the opinions are of a suit that I recently bought.  Its a calvin klein slim fit 46R suit, and i think it fits pretty well.  I'm hoping you guys can let me know if its a good fit or not.  if it is, i may just buy this exact suit in black.  If not, what can be improved?  thanks for your time.

Overall it looks big, but breaking down the pieces: from my amateur eye, the shoulders are passable. Does the edge of the shoulder fabric lay on the end of your shoulder? That's the test - no more no less. if you lean against a wall, shoulder and fabric should hit at the same time.

Do you physically have room to bring in the midsection? If so, I'd slim down thru there and the hips. Since you said it felt baggy in the chest, you could have it taken in from just below the armpit all the way down. The pants look pretty baggy. If it's the right waist, the seat should be brought in then tapered down to the ankle. if you taper you'll need to shorten them as well.

How did the 44R in this cut fit in the shoulders?

It was the 44R that felt big in the chest.   Just to clarify, the 44R jackets that I tried on (several of them) all seemed like a perfect fit across the shoulders, but seemed very baggy across the chest and the midsection.

The suit that is pictured above is a 46R "slim fit", and in my opinion if fits a lot better, mainly because its not as baggy across my chest and hips.

Basically, I think this is a good fit, but I know that I dont know what I'm talking about =)

Does it look to big across the chest and midsection?

Thanks for the tip about the shoulders. I just tried leaning against the wall, and only the side fabric hits the wall, the edge of the fabric is about 1/4 inch away from the wall.

From what I can see in the pictures, I'd have to agree with CousinDonuts. Although the jacket might be ok as-is, the pants definitely need to be tapered down to the ankle. However, in some of the pictures, the seat of the pants looks like it fits decently, but in others it also looks baggy and as mentioned might need to be taken in a bit. Definitely hem the length as well.

Congrats on the marriage, and good luck!
