Brooks Brothers shoe creasing

I just received these boots from Brooks Brothers yesterday. Wore them around the office today, and the right shoe has developed some rather unsightly creasing in just 10 hours of wear. 263

Right shoe: lots of creasing

Left shoe: no creases

The description of the shoes said they are calf, but the way the right one creases makes me think it is corrected grain. They are also good year welted, so I thought $225 wasn't a bad price (they're made in Mexico). Surely the left shoe wouldn't be of a higher quality leather than the right? Is this level of creasing normal, or do you guys think these are defective? Should I return the shoes?

Your left foot bigger than your right foot by any chance? My right is bigger than my left and I seem to develop similar creases on the left shoe when buying shoes with softer, cheaper leathers

Don't be concerned about it. the shoe is supposed to bend with your foot and wrinkling is inevitable. No two shoes will ever wrinkle exactly the same. Such are the characteristics and charms of leather. Enjoy your shoes.

Actually, yes, my left is bigger by about a half size than my right. Could the difference in size be responsible? Any thoughts on whether or not the leather is corrected grain? Could be just low quality calf?

Goodyear welted in Mexico? Srsly? I have not seen those at BB. Most people's left foot is larger than their right and shoes will crease.

The sales guy told me they are fairly new. They do appear to be goodyear welted and say "goodyear welted" on the sole. I must say that the leather does not appear to be of the same quality as that of my AEs.

The fact that only one side creased should rule out any quality problems. Your right foot being smaller could explain the creasing - more room inside the shoe.

Anybody know who makes these? I just picked up a pair today after trying to decide between these and the AE Bayfield boot in brown. (I got a gift card to BB for Christmas, which basically made the decision for me.)

Calf does not mean it is not corrected grain. Full grain means that it is not corrected grain.

I'm not sure what these are, but they are a very casual boot and are supposed to be creased. That leather almost looks pebbled and I think shey should be a bit beat up.

Oh, I see. That's good to know. I had always assumed calf was synonymous with full grain. That makes sense given that none of my AE's had creased like this. Heck, even my old Cole Haans and Banana Republic shoes never creased this severely. I ended up just returning these and getting AE Malverns instead. I liked the style of the BB better, but the leather on the Malverns is way nicer, and they were about $90 cheaper during AE's boot sale, although these went down to $150 during BB's shoe sale (after I returned them). I agree that these were casual enough to look good with creases, but I just couldn't get over the fact that one shoe was creased more than my 1.5 year old AE's, while the other shoe looked brand new.
