Anybody happen to know of a shop in London that stocks a good range of Loake 1880? I'm particularly interested in the Pimlico chukka.

discount shoes strutton ground sw1. 0207 222 5223.they can order in any style in any size and they are way cheaper than anyone else they sell loake and barkers and they are about 30 percent off normal retail prices .its just a shame they dont do crockett and jones

+1, definitely the best place in London for Loakes.

Loake now have their own store just off Jermyn Street in Princes Arcade.smile.gif

Am visiting Jermyn street tomorrow so will see whats on offer in new store.

Is it a flagship store?

I haven't been in, but it's half the size of the other stores on Jermyn street. But it's hard to say how that relates to their stock in back.

In any case almost all of the major English shoemakers are represented on Jermyn St. Definitely take the time to pop into all of them if you can.

Like Wrenkin I have not been in, but my understanding is that it is the only Loake store in the UK.

I thought most of the shoemakers on Jermyn Street were closed on a Sunday. Unless this has changed recently?

Good point - by the time I get up on a Sunday 5pmish everything that opened is either closed or closing.

On the last occasion I happened to be there on a Sunday afternoon - admittedly a couple of years ago now - Lobb, EG and Fosters were all closed. If I have to make the trip it's always on a Saturday. TM Lewin and the like were open for business.

The Loake store is managed by Colin Austin and his second in command is Horles,
both ex. New & Lingwood,

A belated thanks for the replies to this. The place in Strutton Ground is indeed an excellent place for Loakes, and I do call in occasionally, but they don't stock the Pimlico (and don't seem willing or able to order in). I ended up ordering online (though even finding the Pimlicos available on the internet was a challenge).

Glad to see that Loake have finally opened a dedicated store. Seemed crazy that it was impossible to buy a model from a major English maker anywhere in London.

On the subject of the Pimlicos, they are just what I was looking for style-wise, but a couple of months into wearing them once a week, they're still bloody painful, mostly around the ankes (and I've worn many other chukkas).

I called the Discount Shoe shop recently. They were helpful and offered to order a pair of Pimlicos in my size. However I visited the new Loake shop instead, because they had a pair in stock.
