RL Cordovan - any way to make lighter?

I have several pairs of the RL cordovan shoes. A couple of them are a very dark brown, whereas the others are a slight lighter shade that shows better depth/texture.

Is there a way to lighten the darker shoes? Would brushing without polish for a while do the trick?

I would just wear them for a while. They will lighten up on their own. Alternatively, you can leave them in the window and have the sun do the work for you.....

live them in the sun for a few months maybe a year

I don't know about letting the sun bleach them. I suspect it does more harm than good. Each shell reacts differently to wear. I'd use them and see how they look after a while. Some will darken, some will lighten. It just depends.
