How should a 6'4" blond guy dress? - Page 4

Thank you for the photo Reazon.
With regards to your height and body type, there is a resemblance between you and actor Liam Neeson. I mean this as a compliment.
Here are a few shots of Liam, perhaps you can use as a reference.

I guess I am thinking about how I should dress in three different places.
1) The streets (how I should normally dress).
2) During a date.
3) In clubs.

Thomas has made some good suggestions. I would also add a few items:

Street
Leather coat with a length just above or to the knee. This will compliment your height better than a bomber style jacket.
Shawl collared sweater
Denim or cords
rougly hewn leather belts
Overall rugged look will suit you, in my opinion
leather messenger bag or soft briefcase
Brown shoes or boots (no square toes, ever)

Date or Clubs
Pants with texture (example: moleskin, twill, cords) Cuffs on pants are also an option.
A nice tweed sport coat will fill you out and would compliment you.
A dark jacket, perhaps a twill in dark charcoal grey or especially navy blue would serve you well.
Shirts with button-down collars will also compliment you.
If you wear spread collared shirts, when you iron, make sure to iron the collar flat. When you put it on, you'll have a nice roll on the collar.
Black shoes. Go for an oval toe.

Shirt colours to avoid with your skin tones:
Avoid orange, pale green (Kelley green is ok), dead white, light grey, cream, yellow, salmon, peach, burgundy
(these colours CAN work on neckties or pocket squares)

Colours that will wok well with your skin tones:
French blue, lavender, off-white (needs a jacket, waistcoat or sweater), olive, taupe, red, forest or hunter green

Subtle patterning or textures in the shirting will look good on you.

Did you atate your locaiton? or did I miss it?
We can make further suggestions in your area possibly if we know your approximate location (example- Chicago)
I hope this helps you.

I know my 'Thank you'-list will be long, but since I made quite the scene in the beginning, I only see it as fair to show who I thought were helpful.

Unbrelragazzo, thank you for the tip about looking for someone who dresses nicely and asking how to dress somewhat similar.

Thomas, I absolutely loved the tips about the dark/dark or the light/light. And a big thumbs up for the tip on the patterns etc.

Goldentribe, thanks for standing up for me! Feelsgoodman.jpg.

Klobber, that girl is not my wife or my girlfriend. She just a friend of mine. But thanks, I might just tell her! ;) I suppose I could have divided my question in three different questions. Because as I mentioned in the first post, I was interested in what a person such as myself should wear on the streets, during dates and in the clubs.

Man of Lint, thank you a lot for the tip. Liam Neeson is a good dresser, and I will look into what he wears and perhaps try something similar. I don't even know how much to thank you for the later tips in your comment. Absolute gold.

All you have to do is google "blonde hair, blue eyes, tall, ripped" and you get a standard outfit to work off of:

Reazon,

To help you with your search I would recomend the following books

1) Dressing The Man by Alan Flusser

2) Clothes And The Man by Alan Flusser

3) Gentleman by Bernard Roetzel

As you're 21 you shouldn't take the advice in these books to literally, well not at first anyway. They will expand your knowledge of the all types of apparel. As you get older you'll appreciate the information in these books more.

To my mind the pinciples of dressing well are:

1) People should notice your style, not your clothes.

2) Fit, fit, fit.

3) Choose the right colours

4) Interchangeable wardrobe

5) Excellent shoes

6) Have fun with it and only take it seriously when purchasing an item (see 1,2,3,4 & 5)

As a tall person your strategy should be to break up your height. Such as

  • Wear odd trousers and jackets.
  • Tousers should fit on your natural waist (unless they are jeans...apply your own taste here)
  • Pocket squares...all the time
  • Depending on how blond you are browns and rusts will suit you more than blacks and whites.
  • Blond and pale...low contrast clothes
  • Dress in layers

Hope this helps
