Help with new wardrobe

Once upon a time, I had a decent wardrobe. I did the whole growing up thing, finished college and started grad school, times changed and so did styles, and my wardrobe was no more. I'm a 5'10" and 135lbs male living in New England (aka warm and cold climates). While I have a few basic items, I'm starting from scratch with a lot. What I do have is high quality and fits me very well, that said, it isn't a lot. Few choice items I have:

Black Gucci wool blazer

Dark blue Burberry rain coat

Brown suede Gucci shoes

Selection of 7cm Hermes Ties

Numerous sweaters, including a few new ones

Several jeans, including this and similar washes

In addition, I have enough belts to sink a small ship, one or two shirts (off the shelf Brioni), maybe one pair of black dress pants, and plenty of sneakers / tees.

What I'm in need of, to begin with, are some dress shirts, a suit, couple dress paints, pair of black shoes, and what ever else would be a good idea. I'm extremely slender, so not much fits. I have about $2k to spend, and usually dress in jeans, shirt, sweater, and blazer for the winter (I'm in science, so no suits and ties), but obviously have to dress up once in a while. While I know what I like, I'm not really sure what's in style and where to get it from. Any suggestions on where to purchase from and what to purchase would be appreciated. I'll happily comment on any posted items to help narrow in my style. Thanks.

Yes!! but then I love wearing garments with a regional flavour to them. Not too keen on the reindeer though, too many bad memories of horrible sweaters for christmas.

Agreed about the reindeer, and I'd even prefer it without the black trim -- but the knit details at the front neck & biceps and those metal clasps are awesome!

What's up with the edges of the blue argyle tie? It looks like it got soaking wet and pressed dry or something.

Sorry I'm not much help -- you are far more slender than I so I dare not suggest anything.

Looks like it's hand rolled edges on an untipped tie...very nice

Thanks for the replies guys. The reindeer aren't my favorite part of this particular sweater, but like GoldenTribe pointed out, the detail on the stitching and clasps are what drew me in. The tie is hand rolled and stitched - I thought it looked odd as well until it was explained to me that it's normal.

I should say that these aren't the entire basis of my collection nor the summation of what I prefer - i.e. I don't exclusively own or like clasp knit sweaters. I just thought it might give some basis for recommendation instead of simply saying "I need a suit" with nothing about my style preferences to go on.

Judging by the posted items, plain-front wool or cotton (preferably not black) pants from Brooks Brothers or Ralph Lauren would go with the personal style . If it's the first suit, then it should be mostly wool, single-breasted, with notch lapels, two or three buttons, probably flap pockets (rather than besom pockets), and one or two vents, in navy or dark gray. Nordstrom probably would be a good place to shop for some of the basics. Also, a black 'blazer' with patch pockets is not very versatile (i.e., buy another odd jacket), and that does not look like a proper tie collection. Shoe size, jacket size, and a more specific location would be needed to give much advice on the other items.

You are the exact height and weight of me, so i'm just gonna go out on a limb here and say you have a pretty sleek frame. I personally head to Rugby RL because their small fits me very well. BB has some nice sweaters that are great for layering. If you are a fan of the preppy look those would be two good places to start. If not I say check out Gant/Gant Rugger - they have some nice stuff.

A good year round shirt is a red or blue gingham. I'd start with that if you need to get a shirt.
