Best point and shoot camera at around $500?

As the title states, I'm looking for a simple point and shoot around $500.

I know someone is going to recommend a DSLR. I bought a DSLR 5-6 years ago when I was into photography, but it is too cumbersome to use on a daily basis. I want something that is portable or semi portable that I can carry in my bag daily. I haven't been up to date on the subject in the last several years so I come here for help. smile.gif
