Since about six months, Corthay ready-to-wear shoes have been stocked (as the only UK venue) in the Harrods shoe department (Kurt Geiger). This weekend the Corthay firm is having a trunk show there, offering not only ready-to-wear, but also made-to-order and, to say it in French “sur mesure” (fully bespoke).

I had no idea the show was on and stumbled across it by accident. A young man was demonstrating the colour effects achieved with dyes and polishes on the finished shoes. Then I spotted Pierre Cothay himself, surrounded by various absolutely superb samples of his bespoke shoes. Anyone interested in shoes who can make it into Harrods should have a look. The trunk show is still on tomorrow (Sunday) and M. Corthay (whose English is superb) will be in attendance all day.
