I am considering ordering "slim fitting" Schott naval pea coat. Am interested in any feedback and reviews.

I've got no experience with this one, it may have higher armholes. But you can get a pretty slim fit with a surplus (quite possibly Schott) peacoat by sizing down. Either way, Schott makes good pea coats so I'd guess this is pretty good, too.

Just a personal preference, of course, but I'm not thrilled with the spiraling seams on the sleeves of that coat, cp.

I own this one from J. Crew and find it to be very slim-fitting: http://www.jcrew.com/mens_category/outerwear/wool/PRDOVR~87195/87195.jsp

Here is it in action...

Same thought about the sleeves. It looks like a weird sort of piping.

I'm also not sure about the collar. Maybe my eyes are deceiving me, but it looks unusually large.

I'm not too keen about the spiral piping, either. This might be the deal breaker. Will look into the J. Crew. Thanks for posting the pics.

The Schott jacket you posted has that weird leather spiral on the sleeves. They make a slim fit Peacoat without the leather.

Hmmm, this one has metal buttons.

I have a Schott Giro Heavy Knit jacket (http://www.schottnyc.com/products/men/sweaters/giro.htm) and its my absolute favorite go-to in the Fall. I find Schott to be Excellent quality for the price its offered at. My brother has the Slim Pea Coat (Not the naval) and its great as well. I say avoid the naval pea coat it looks weird to me. The Slim Pea Coat is awesome however icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

Edit: Go for this one (http://www.schottnyc.com/products/men/peacoat/mens-slim-fitting-wool-peacoat.htm) its 100% wool, not like the Wool-blend posted before. AND it has the metal buttons you want. Worth the extra $25

Thanks for the info and advice and the links. Actually, the metal buttons are something I think that I would not prefer. Will look into the "slim pea coat".

I have the J. Crew one, too, with a Thinsulate lining.

They go on sale pretty reliably around the winter holidays.

Mine is the warmest coat I own- better even than a Patagonia down jacket upon which I'd come to rely during last year's hellish winter in Vermont.

A common complaint I've seen online about the Schott wool coats is that the inside is quite rough, and wears out sweaters prematurely.

I don't know if it's the case with this one, but it seemed worth mentioning.

I had a chance to try on the Schott coat in the OP. I have a slender build, but the fit of the coat was very snug. There would be no way that I could wear a sweater with that coat. The piping on the sleeves was not all that apparent as I thought I might be. But the ultra bright red lining was a distraction. It seems "wrong" for a pea coat. The arm holes are very high. There is a peak on the shoulders that gives it a Jetsons look. The search continues...

Yeah, that's not good. Best of luck with the search, cp.
