If you would be able to choose between Raffaele Caruso or Cantarelli, which brand would you choose? And why?

I have one Caruso jacket and one Cantarelli for Faconnable jacket. Based upon those, Caruso is much better - excellent in fact.

i wouldn't compare the two... faconnable is all half-canvassed. real cantarelli is typically (not always) fully canvassed.

I am thinking in terms of quality and fit. How often is Cantarelli half-canvassed? Is it a typical line?

My understanding is that Cantarelli is a canvased coat. Mine have been well made, as well made as my Caruso. Fit matter most.

Both are fully canvassed and are constructed excellently. Caruso might be slightly better, but not by much. From what I've seen, Cantarelli is usually a softer coat while Caruso is a bit more structured. As the above poster said, fit matters most in this case.

I've seen stuff by both vary considerably. However, Caruso is probably the more "consistent" of the two. Some of the things I've seen by Cantarelli are terrific though.

I believe there's so much more Caruso than Cantarelli out there. Who do they make for? I'm trying to think if I've ever even encountered one. Caruso makes for everybody.

Cantarelli makes for Bergdorf Goodman private label.

re cantarelli - it varies by model and price range.

my experience has been that the best caruso slightly trumps cantarelli, but for the most part, there isn't a massive difference. there is so much average caruso out there (in terms of both fit and fabrics) that it tends to lower the average.

cantarelli tends to be a bit more consistent in styling, with a flashier bent for fabrics (think isaia-ish), but is generally a solid but unspectacular brand. typically a semi-soft shoulder (not as soft as softest caruso), wide-ish lapels (by current standards), nice pants (fitted but not as skinny as caruso tends to be). emphasis on "typically".

they are very close. it really depends on what works best for you.

Thank you very much for the information. Any info on the models Cantarelli and Caruso sell?

Carusos sartoria parma is amazing. I like it as much if not more than my isaia stuff.
