Overcoat collar

So it's getting cold over here and I "need" a new overcoat.

I found this overcoat that I like and the fit is great.

However, it has a stand up collar and I don't recall seeing that on overcoats before. It's not that I mind it, as I kinda like the look, but is it just a fashion thing or can someone please educate me on this matter?

Usually the collar would be able to be buttoned down to make a normal notch lapel, but this one doesn't seem to have that option. I think you would tire of the novelty fairly quick.

i guess if it is for cold than stand up collar can protect your neck in great way as compared to turnover collar...smile.gif

Comes off as more of a "stylish gimmick" than anything useful. Have to think there are better options.
