Advice/Suggestions needed: Shopping list New Work Attire

Hello fellow gents,

I wanted to know if anyone could help me out. I need some advice and suggestions for some new threads.


I need to pick up a lot of new clothes for the Fall and Winter for work. I just got out of graduate school and I'm working as a librarian. I'm 25 years old and need to spruce up my current wardrobe. The following items are on my most wanted list:

Camel peacoat - Indochino?
Messenger bag / briefcase - Filson?
Boots - ??? no Sorels please!

I don't want to be breaking the bank as I'm stil payment off student debts but I need something. My current peacoat is black and quite old. I never wear black, I think I only own one pair of black shoes so I need something different. I own a golden retriever and his hair gets on everything, that's why I'd prefer the camel coloured peacoat. Anyways, any suggestions would be great.

I like it but I'm not very convinced by the quality...so I guess that can be a reference point.

Can't comment on the Indochino coat as I have no experience with any of their products.

I would suggest doing a forum search for each of your topics. I know there is a Filson thread

There are other Filson threads as well. Also, I believe one of the advertisers (Crane's) on this site did (and may still) offer a discount on Filson products for Style Forum customers.
