What do you like to use?

I have been using the B&N Nook Classic, but last night pulled the trigger on a refurb Nook Touch from Overstock.com (I love Overstock)

Very excited, can't wait for it to come in.

I love the Nook Classic, but it's 1) kinda heavy, and 2) battery life sucks (my main reason for upgrading to the Touch).

So what do you guys think? Nook vs. Kindle?

I obviously made my choice. I realize it's very easy to convert back and forth between formats with Calibre, but I made my choice and am married to the epub format.

Nook Classic just now listed on CL, heh.

I have a sony touch that the mrs bought for me and I fucking hate it. She's bought two Sony readers for herself and I don't think she uses either of them anymore. The only high spot for the sony was a few ebooks that I couldn't get elsewhere - particularly the Stieg Larsson trilogy that I dl'd before it was in print on this side of the pond. Once I finished that I was back to paper and ink.

Wow that's lame. I haven't heard anything good about any eReader other than BN and Amazons'.

I just found out that even though my Nook Touch coming in has 2 gigs of memory, like my Nook Classic, only 200 megs is available for sideloading.

Lame, but I have several 8 gig microSD cards laying around I can use. If I even needed to (200 megs is still a lot for ebooks).

oh, it's not a bad device I suppose, although I wish the screen were brighter. I just hate this particular class of gadgets. I don't think I'd like the kindle or nook, and i even dislike the iPad (Mrs. has one of those, as well). I just like paper-based books.

I think part of the hate comes from the fact that ebooks cost pretty much the same as paper books, despite the lower inherent cost. And I can't re-sell or recycle them, so I can't chance into a used ebook that I've always wanted for cheeeep.

Have 3 Kobos (the wireless ones) -- one for me, one for the Mrs. and one for my daughter (she's 9)

I use the Kobo app on my BB Playbook a lot (probably more than on my actual Kobo) and when stuck, my BB

The app is handy because I have a copy of my book on my bedside table and everywhere I am on the go (though the bookmark function sometimes has glitches)

The biggest irritation I have is when a book is not available at the Kobo store and I have to buy the Kindle version and use Calibre to convert it to ePub cloud.gif

If at all possible now I avoid getting real books -- if you saw my house and office you would understand ... tongue.gif

Ditto, the space saving aspect is why I wanted an eReader in the first place.

I haven't actually bought any book from BN, I've side-loaded everything into it.

I will grab free classics though from Amazon and convert them to epub.

Found a buyer today for my Nook Classic, going to unload it, and tomorrow my Touch should come in!

Was kinda aggravated when I read that even though the Nook Touch has 2 gigs of space, only 200 megs are available for side-loading books. The rest of that space is reserved for books bought from BN store, which will always remain empty for me hah.

About to finish reading Rise of Roosevelt, and start up on Gibbons History of the Decline of the Roman Empire (found all 6 volumes in one epub on Project Gutenberg woo)

Headed to Meyerland to unload the Nook Classic + neoprene sleeve + anti-glare screen protector + Lyra Light for 75 bucks. Whoever this dude is, he's getting a deal.
