Anyone dressing up for Hallowe'en in a sartorially sophisticated manner?

Office Hallowe'en parties: yet another minefield, IMO.

We've received a directive from on high that getting into the spirit of Hallowe'en would be "much appreciated". I was unwilling to shell out for a costume, so I put together something myself, with very little effort, that allows me to wear some of my more formal clothes.

I decide to go as an Edwardian gent. I decided to go with a 3-piece birdseye navy suit, black oxfords, spats, white shirt with detachable wing collar, pocket watch, and yellow/blue pindot tie - topped with a homburg. I also have a pair of pince-nez, but they're not prescription.

While walking to the office from my car, I passed a whole pile of people who weren't in costume. Hardly anyone gace me a second glance, so a suit is a suit is a suit to some people, I guess. That works for me.

Anyone else caught in the web of "mandatory fun"?

yeah....i dressed up as an adult who does his damn job. When they ask what im supposed to be ill say..."im the grown up who does his job...you must be the other guy." **** halloween costumes.

I always laugh at adults who dress up in the middle of the day.....going about their business as dracula or a pirate. I get a good laugh. they look absolutely ridiculous.

I was dressed up and going about my business on Saturday. Granted my Saturday "business" generally consists of drinking heavily, so I suppose I did not look that ridiculous.

That said, does this count as "sartorial"? I'm in a tux. Kinda.

Well, some of us don't live with snakes and lizards and other things that go bump in the night.

I am wearing a Scooby Doo tie to the office today.

I am in a vintage mustard colored bowling shirt from a grain co-op from Yankton, SD, brown plaid wool trou and brown/mustard spectators. I'm rocking it. :slayer:

Not at work, but I am wearing my mostly authentic Victorian stuff tonight, with some subtle additions, for a proper Bram Stoker-era Vampire look.

You costume is being dressed up as a guy that normally doesn't wear novelty ties?

One of the bankers I work with just wore one of his regular suits along with some horns that he glued to his forehead. He said he's dressed up as "his natural form".
