L.L.Bean Katahdin boot - boot care products?

I have a tub of Montana Pitch Blend (paste dressing) and I'm wondering if it's ok to use it on these boots. I am waiting for a reply for the retailer, but if you own this boot have you used this product? If not, what do you use and does it work?

I use Obenaufs - the Heavy LP stuff - once before each winter. It darkens them a bit but works well. There is a whole thread on these boots over in Streetwear. You may get some opinions over there as well.
