Was reading the new January GQ, and one of the "new basics" for spring is the caramel belt.."which blends perfectly with grays, khakis, and whites...". Looks pretty sharp as per the pics, and it works with the sneakers the guy has on. But my question is, does it work with black dress shoes? Or how about those leather athletic-type urban shoes or some nicer loafers in black or dark brown?

Thanks.

I have a belt exactly like the one the guy with the grey trousers is wearing..

I allways feel self-conscious about it when I wear it...

I onlz feel it is right when I wear caramel shoes and a white linen suit during the summer...

I'm wearing a caramel belt today with caramel shoes (AE Wilberts). I would not wear it with black shoes, however.

Caramel is a great belt color, but don't mix it with black shoes.

Welcome to the Forum BTW. This is in no way directed at you, but I hate when GQ or other men's publication "discover" something and proclaim it " The new basic". It's not that men have not been wearing caramel belts before 2007. Six month from now GQ will say "the new basic" is the black belt.

Chalk this up as another reason to have brown shoes. You get to wear things like caramel belts! Yum.
