Customised Regimental Tie

Colleagues,

I have the rather pleasant obligation of redesigning the official tie of my regiment (a nice combination of three of my enduring interests - the military, clothes and hidebound tradition).

I need to find a company that provides a customised tie service. I have had a look around on the internet and there are quiet a few, but I have no experience of their respective merits.

I want something that is in a good quality, matt woven silk. Would be ordering around 50 ties. Can't go above $50/tie.

I would also prefer somewhere that made up a sample tie before beginning full production.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks and Regards,

Clovis

Clovis,

We only make luxury bespoke ties (which requires individual measurements for every tie) and are slightly above your goal - price point but I am happy to help with basic questions either in this post or by email to help you with your project. customerservice@samhober.com

Some thoughts:

An English reppe weave silk would work well for you. Don't use Chinese silk.

When you select your silk you will want a 150 warp and weft count - in the reppe weave.

You will want a pure Italian wool interlining.

The ties should be hand made.

Having some made in different lengths is a good idea and should not raise your price.

Have fun in the process.

^ Cool project, I'd recommend David for this, you'll get a great result.

It might cost a bit more but the folks that get the ties will love them.

The traditional place to get a regimental or club tie done up is Benson & Clegg.

I'm sure there are lots of other places that can do this but Benson & Clegg do know their business. They aren't the cheapest but they do have decent quality at a decent price.

You might try Kent Wang for prices too. He does custom ties as well.
