Will my 11D foot fit an 11B shoe?

Did a quick search, couldn't find anything.

I'm considering buying a leather tuxedo pump in size 11B, even though I'm an 11D. Won't be wearing it but twice a year or so, and probably for a few hours or less at a time.

Thoughts? Will I at least be able to squeeze into it? I'm hoping the leather will give a little.

Thanks.

What possible reason would you have for even attempting this. Are you into pain? A Catholic doing some penance perhaps?

I've been searching for an affordable tuxedo shoe for a while and have been having trouble finding ones that I like. I'm getting a bit desperate because I need something to wear within a few weeks. Something has come up on Ebay that I love, except it's an 11B frown.gif

depending on the brand, it can be done.. You can also stretch the shoe although not recommended

Probably not going to be happy.  I am an 8D and thrifted a pair of 8C wingtips for $6.  I managed to stretch them enough to make them wearable, but they still don't fit like an 8D. It is hard to imagine making a B-width shoe in any way satisfactory.

A silly question. If your feet are 11D then that is the size that you need. Anything else will be a squeeze for you and no one here can determine the degree of stupidity and discomfort to which you are prepared to subject yourself.

The choice is your although there is only one correct answer - forget it!

Width designations are just a starting point.

When a new last is created, the last maker is free to change any dimension except for its minimum length. This initial dimensions are then labeled as a 'normal width' -- for instance, "D" in the US system. Physically, this can be almost any width of girth when measured normally (in inches or centimeter).

From this, the other widths such as B, C, E, or EEE are derived by adding a fixed amount of width and/or girth to the initial last. In other words, width designations are relative to the last being used.

Therefore, there's no way to tell in advance.

It's up to you if you're willing to take the risk, I'd say.

I would say don't do it. If the "D" fits you even remotely snug or if the last is slightly narrow to begin with, such as Alden's Aberdeen, it'll be even worse. I'm an "A to B" width and my feet swim in every "D" last I've worn but at least there is room for my toes. The opposite way just won't work and IMO, it will be a mistake to try it.

I wear 11D and my guess is that they'll feel fine for the first hour or so, but by the end of the day or an event, you'll be in pain. I've made this mistake before and paid the price for it. I obviously advise against this.

Even a E fitting into a D is excruciating for any duration over 10 minutes, I cannot fathom the pain of a D fitting into a B.

Thanks for all the advice. I was naively hoping that someone would say they've made it happen before. I'll just have to pass on this pair frown.gif
