White & Off-White

Do whites have to match?

The outfit i'm going for is like the one at the top of this page
http://www.styleforum.net/t/167780/recent-non-sartorialist-looks/7800

The whites on this guy are the same, whereas my pants are slightly off white.

Concerned whether this works? I think it looks good on but thought i'd ask you fine fellows.

Suggestions otherwise? Light blue shirt?

Thanks.

In the photo, the white pants make the blue sports coat look very bright and crisp. That's a great look, but I think off-white pants would work as well.

If your sports coat is double breasted, you'd have it closed most of the time, so there would be a significant amount of distance between shirt and pants. So I think a white shirt would be OK.

Another option you might consider is your off-white pants with a pale blue gingham and a solid navy or brown tie.
