Let's talk about sushi... - Page 8

All right, where can I get the best mediocre sushi in chicago?

I've been on the first flight into chicago from the coast and have seen them loading piles of fresh fish into the cargo bay (they handle it much better than luggage...) so I know it exists somewhere...just not at the all you can eat groupon specials my friends drag me to

considering it's America, just follow the pricetag - yelp will lead you to the best you're gonna get in Chicago.

I didn't see the oenotheque there, though I'm almost certain they made a '95.

The cellar at CT had several bottles. Every month when I did inventory, it was truly hard not to accidentally drop it and then just spend the next hour licking the floor.
they have released a '95 and a '96, though the prices are just staggeringly high.

kevin took all the bottles for corkage and they didn't drink the Oenotheque, so not in the pic I guess. I've seen 95 Oeno though.

What little sushi I have had there was quite good although it is just a piece or two before a bowl of ramen.

remind me to stop by Chicago for some post-apocalyptic sushi.

Anybody in SF who like Japanese should check out Kappou Gomi. No sushi, but sashimi and lots of other great dishes in a low key atmosphere with great service. Not cheap, obviously, but very well priced for what is probably the best Japanese in the city.

it looks like it imploded it's sushi guts on itself. Just reminds me of much I hated living in the midwest.

^ That seems even more of an abomination than the typical shitty sushi Korean-Americans serve to unwitting whiteys.

even the screaming shrimp heads on that plate are telling you to get out as soon as you can.

Is that from Arami? The sushi certainly didn't look like that when I used to go.
