Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
It is a bit frustrating that he had to go through the online customer service to get the online price at the store.
But, it's very possible the salesperson is simply following the orders of his manager, who is likely following company policy. From the store's perspective, they'd rather sell the shoes to one of their local customers at a higher price than sell to "some guy" over the phone at a lower price. The local customer is much more likely to buy from them again and less likely to be shopping their store only at 40+15 time.
Also, warehouse space in the suburbs costs significantly less than retail space in the higher-end shopping centers where RL stores. As such, the online business has completely different cost dynamics than the retail store does. Expecting to get the absolutely best deal possible at the store level over the phone during their semi-annual sale really does smack of entitlement (i.e., because I read some message board and was made aware of a discount being offered to customers who purchase significantly more than I do, I should be able to demand that a customer service rep find a highly sought-after pair of shoes and sell them to me at 40+15 off). I'm not casting stones as I've done the same thing. But, I think we SF-types have expectations that RL or any other company could never meet if even 25% of their customers demanded what we do.

Fair point, Southbound. Although I will say that the dynamics have changed now that the same retailer operates in both the B&M and e-commerce spaces. Right or wrong it's just not going to go over well with customers when they see one price online and another in-store. The revenue goes to the same income statement whether I buy online or in-store, so it's hard to persuade me that I should take into account the cost structure of one business segment vs. the other. Additionally, like it or not, customer loyalty is very fleeting nowadays and may soon be a relic of "the good old days." Don't get me wrong - I prefer to buy from retailers like BB and RL over eBay because I value the implied service that's built into the price tag. But to assume everyone sees that same value equally - or at all - is far-fetched, as it is to expect a random consumer to identify the actual components that drive price.

Anyone here get the Lindrick in a 11.5? If so, could you have worn the 11?

I did not get a 11.5, however maybe my experience will help: I'm a 10.5 with a right foot that is more like a 10.7. Most 10.5's for me are a bit too snug on my right foot, but I deal with it.

A lot of people said the Lindrick was a bit roomy and you could size down, I got them in 10.5 and they fit me great, even my right foot. I'll also dare say that the cordorvan, right out of the box, is a bit stretchy'er than I thought it would be - which probably explains why my right foot is fine in it.

Actually, stretchy'er is misleading - how about "forgiving"? Which hasn't been my experience with most shell but this is, apparently, fine shell. Not supple like calf, but more pliable than any other shell I have (Alden, etc.) It seems to exhibit that "fits like a glove" quality. Nice.

While I'm on point, I might as well pass this along to anyone who's on the fence (assuming your size hasn't moved out from under you already): you should get them, you won't be disappointed. I'm just a budding mid-timer, but my 2+ years of SF study has given me a good grasp of mediocre, good, and fantastic. These are near fantastic. You just won't find something better at the $570'ish discount price point - and probably not again for a long time - get on it.

Hope that helps you, or somebody smile.gif

also want to point out that most forget the fact that boots in general are ok slightly big (obviously you can use thicker socks and inserts) but really it helps that you have much more control over the fit around your entire foot and ankle because you can tighten your laces over more area

I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. Thanks for sharing. I'm out of breath typing this... bwaahahahahahaa.

When he gets in the drawers after he drops the (2rd, 3rd?) "Michael Phelps gave me this", he actually says Polo' as in pole-Oh'. Bwaaahahahahaha.

I finally had to show them the $359 sale price on my phone; it eventually came out to $303 before tax.

so i called another store and they have the perfect 10.5 penny, and I will be picking them up tomorrow. to try to avoid what they did to you i have already printed out the marlow penny loafer page so if they won't match it at first, I'll just show them the printout and hope they'll match the price...

Crosspoast from the other thread:

An SFer should do a video reply. "Purple Label! Blue Label by Corneliani! Black Label by Caruso! Purple Label by Saint Andrews! Purple Label by Chester Barrie! Polo by Crockett & Jones! Signature Liiiinnne.. They don't even make that shit no more!!!! NO PONY. NO PONY!!!!! NO LOGOSSSSS!!!!!! "

The only question here is: who has the most variety of RL stuff here?

omg that video ... its hilarious but makes me cringe at the same time. sad (freaking smart) that this is where RL makes all of their money

wow so random ...

i just called RL CS to look for a specific item to proxy for another SF member and they shut down store inventory system every night at 10PM EST and cant check until following morning at 9AM

has anyone heard of this? so 24/7 CS are limited to online inventory inquiries and orders. kind of amusing that they do this

Yeah most companies work like that.. Customer Service is usually for online items only. Apple is like that, and many others - that don't pop up in my head at the moment. Online and B&M are operated separately...
hmmm interesting ... i thought it would all be on the same system. and why does it have to take so long? i get that if its separate they need to update one side and cross check with the other, but shouldnt take THAT long every night

Anyone have Lindricks in a 9D they are interested in unloading? I assume these fit like the Darlton/Marlowes? 325 last?
