I have a few pairs of shoes with metallic numbering on the inside like that, and in no case that I have seen does it correspond to the sizing.
There should be a tag elsewhere, but if not, it sounds like you know (1) that they don't fit you, and (2) that they fit roughly an 8, so worst case scenario you still have enough info to sell them, especially if you provided insole and outsole measurements.
