Nobody suggested a morning coat, nor did the links I provided. If you want something you can use later, get a charcoal three-piece or a navy DB.

I don't see how a morning coat could be extremely out of place at YOUR wedding, though. You can wear whatever the hell you want, and a well-fitting morning coat looks magnificent.

I guess that's the part that makes it out of place for me, My future wife and I are both in our mid twenties and have always leaned towards more modern fashion. I think most guests would be pretty shocked to see me wearing a morning coat (not to mention my wife to be would find the choice odd). But that's more of a statement about my personal style than it is about the appropriateness of a morning coat at a wedding for obvious reasons.

 

I was however also considering a charcoal suit instead of the gray, I'm just so drawn to the look of a gray suit with brown shoes.

Gray suit with brown shoes sound fine to me. Enjoy your wedding good sir.
