I'm planning to go in January for 2-3 weeks and am looking for recs.

To be frank, i don't really like group tours, so I'm more looking for good vineyards to target on my own and preferably places with nice accommodations.

Thx.

you'll have a blast. I can't help you, but there is some bitching food and wine in Argentina. BTW, I am pretty sure I'll be in BA the second week of January, so maybe our paths will cross.

Cool GT. I won't have an exact itinerary for a while, but i definitely won't be going on the first week, so there's a chance we could cross paths on the second week. I think i'll probably split my time between Mendoza and BA. Need to crack open the guide books.

What makes me really sad is that Teatro Colon doesn't seem to have anything going on in Jan. I REALLY wanted to go.

I stayed at Club Tapiz when I wen with my wife down there - very nice accommodations and restaurant but are outside of Mendoza.

Mendoza is a large arrive and embarking city for mountaineers who are going to attempt Aconcagua, so the city is quite close to many outdoor activities. We went horseback riding with a man, a goucho, on his 3,000 acres of land as well as a great white water rafting adventure.

horseback riding is a good idea. I haven't done it in years and the gf would really like that.
