Winter flannel blazersuit?

With winter coming up, I'm thinking of bespeaking a flannel suit. After seeing the new Panta collection, I'm especially tempted by the blue spot effect flannel. (I've ordered a swatch, and it's slightly greyer in real life). Now, I was thinking whether or not this design would be versatile enough to use the jacket as an odd coat, to wear with mid-grey flannels and suede shoes, as a winter version of the blazersuit.

gotta have a pair to get it as a suit, but i definitely would get it as a suit.

Why? From any distance, it looks quite conservative.

Flannel is a gift and a curse. A curse because it isn't particularly long wearing as I would expect necessary for the blazersuit idea to really work well.

That's why you get 2 pairs of pants.

I think it also depends on how many pieces you have in your wardrobe, too... If you have an adequate number of suits etc. in your rotation then your flannels will probably have a relatively long lifetime.

@ RogerC. That spot-effect flannel is pretty sweet. Which bunch is it from? What kind of details are you considering? Open patch pockets? SB? Notch lapels?

It's a 16oz flannel. Not to say it's as bullet-proof as similar-weight worsted, but it will be able to take a hit. Also, I would be wearing the jacket separately on a regular basis.

It's from the Minnis flannel bunch. As do details, that'll depend on what I can get away with wearing the jacket separately. I was thinking about ticket pocket, 2button SB notch lapels, cuffed trousers, single reverse (inward) pleat.

By the way, I found some more pictures of the fabric in this post by kngrimm.

Looks great. I think it could work. My donegal tweed suit has the same "configuration" (except for 3-to-2.5 SB in stead of 2).

+1 I have something very similar in donegal too.

I often find myself planning an odd jacket and then thinking at the last moment, why not get some matching trousers as well? I find it hard to resist.

I myself am looking into updating my suit for winter, this looks promising.

What is a "Blazersuit"? Something a fireman wears?

A suit where the jacket can be worn as a blazer and not look like an orphaned suit jacket and can still be worn as a suit with the matching trousers. Some have had their's made with transformer buttons so when worn as a blazer it looks the part, then when worn as a suit it looks the part. Capisco?

Completely the same here. You can't do it with any fabric though, hence this thread smile.gif
