What do I do with this tie?

I decided to buy a tie for work. I bought this Zegna tie because it was particularly boring. It's also kind of sallow and I put it in my sock drawer because looking at it for extended periods of time can make me depressed. I haven't worn it yet, namely because I have no clue what color shirt/pant it matches.

Links to shirts and pants would be just as good as general suggestions

--Thanks

I think you should just sell that tie to me.

Ha. Attempted acquisition is indeed the sincerest form of tie-flattery.

Criticism is the sincerest form of flattery:

Your tie sucks, it is BS, total trash, and will gather your fruits with impunity.

PM me and give the tie to me for free, I pay postage of course. You know you cannot keep that tie, it is cursed, festooned with abominable patterns that were inspired by the tailor's "angel dust" fuelled visions of Beelzebub.

EDIT:
Of couse, honesty is the sincerest form of flattery, you should keep that tie. I personally like it without loving it, but it would be easy to figure out how to wear it with an outfit. If your wardrobe has versatility, then mix and match.

Color is a bit much, but the neat pattern saves it.  It is versatile, sure.

I've heard that black goes with everything. Would black be an acceptable pairing with this tie? It looks really gauche with blue and grey suits.

Sir, you underestimate your excellent taste. You have in your possession the veritable
"go to" tie. It goes with virtually everything, except of course, canary yellow blazers and the
like. It works with blues, grays, and even browns. Less adaptable to tweeds and other
high texture garments, but with your innate sense of style you could push the envelope.
Great tie!

Actually, I think that it would be great with a grey suit, and either a white or a very light blue shirt.

I would wear it with a yellow shirt/ grey suit.

PS. I don't even own a black suit.

I think it's pretty ugly IMO.

You should just give it to the goodwill. But I'll be nice and buy it off you for 20 bucks. So that I can pair it with my navy/grey suit or an orange/pink shirt.

This. What you're hearing is that everyone likes this tie. You did too when you laid down the $$$ to buy it - but now you're doubting. Two choices - rock it with confidence or pass it along to someone else who will. Don't put it back in the sock drawer

pshht. Only small-timers put ties in a sock drawer.

This should be someone's post signature.
