In addition to glove sizing advice, I also need to know which COS trousers come in black, wool and are slim enough to taper to at least a 7" hem...

I can't say that this will guarantee you a 7" hem (nor can customer service), but my grey melange wool trousers (not current season cut) are the tapered fit and they're a 7" in size 48.
These seem to fit your criteria:

Trousers are a touch large in the waist. My 48's measured 17".
Hey guys, on the verge of ordering these leather gloves, anyone have comment on fit? I have normal sized palms, but rather stubby fingers. Prolly like a true M in most gloves, but they only offer S/M or L/XL...Advice?

I have these in L/XL but I don't see the point of giving any sizing advices in such vague terms (what is normal sized palm anyway?). Not the best leather gloves you could get but the leather is fine for the price and they have hold up well this far.

I mean, how big would you say your hands are compared to other dudes? Mine are usually comparatively sized or a bit smaller in finger length, so I assume that puts me around M
I figure S/M might be fine for you then. This is of course highly subjective but I guess I have bigger hands than average population. L/XL fits me fine or even somewhat loose, although the glove fingers are a hair too short.
