What would you do?

I am in Boston.

I need to get a couple pairs of shoes, an overcoat, a trench coat, and perhaps some shirts. The list is ordered by need. Shoes are what I am most anxious about as the shoes I am wearing now are ill fitting and hurt my feet. That is a no go in a walking city like Boston.

I want to buy comfortable, durable (lifetime, if possible), and of course fit well.

For shoes, I was thinking John Lobb, Crockett and Jones, or Cheaney.

For an overcoat, Crombie.

For a trench coat, Burberry.

Shirts, I am not honestly sure, but Turnbull and Asser or Hilditch and Key.

The issue is I am in Boston, which means I have to order online which I would prefer not to. I do go to New York occasionally, but I don't have much time for personal errands.

Should I splurge and get bespoke? How do I proceed? Also, do you know when Crombie and Burberry have their sales, as well as any other of the vendors listed?

Don't buy Crombie it's rubbish.

Interesting point. Any suggestions for an overcoat?

If John Lobb is in your price range you should be able to get any overcoat you want...

For starters, check MrPorter.com and ParkandBond.com

I would thrift. Just because it's more fun.

My usual suggestion:

Many overcoats. All classical. Very Boston.

What about living in Boston means you have to shop online?

Louis Boston, Alan Bilzerian, Mr Sid, Drinkwaters, The Andover Shop would have what you're looking for.

Aldens?

You want to order shoes online and you're buying because the ones you have aren't comfy. HMmmm

Just go buy stuff in Boston, that way you'll have well fitting garments. All you're sacrificing is the right to online brag about the price you paid for your ugly, oversized Brioni overcoat bought on ebay.
